Welcome to Silvertomorrow Books
Ambitious storytelling for all ages.
At Silvertomorrow Books we are crafting stories for every age. What started as a fun side-project between mother and son, soon turned into a series of early reader chapter books. We are excited to present our first book in The Pocket Dragons series: The Heartsong Challenge. This book was a collaboration created over cake pops and hot chocolates.
We are currently writing the second book in the series The Wishing Crystal and look forward to sharing these works of love aimed at younger readers.

The Pocket Dragons: The Heartsong Challenge
By Christy Hemmingway and Jude Hua
Illustrated by Janice Blaine
Dragons the fit in your pocket…cute or uncomfortably hot?
When AJ and his best friend, Avinger, climb their favorite tree, they stumble into a hidden world where dragons can shrink small enough to fit in a pocket and listen for magical “heartsongs” to test intent. But when chickens start disappearing and AJ’s grandpa blames the dragons, tensions rise creating a dangerous situation for a hatching dragon egg. To save their new friends, AJ and Avinger must stand up to the grown-ups. Can the boys show the dragons that some humans are worth remembering, before it’s too late?
A chapter book with beautiful interior illustrations for kids beginning their chapter book reading journey.

Who we are
Silvertomorrow Books is Christy Hemmingway’s self-publishing imprint. Silvertomorrow has a mission to publish ambitious stories for any age.
Christy Hemmingway is a Calgary-based writer whose work explores the resilience and fragility of human connection in the face of societal pressures, trauma, and change. She is drawn to stories that examine how people navigate the tension between external judgment and internal truth, whether through speculative futures shaped by climate crisis or contemporary narratives of small-town life. When she isn’t writing Christy is teaching at a community college, learning from her kids, and keeping bees with her husband in their backyard.
Our Values
Originality
Every element of the work we publish is original, human made, human designed art. From the words on the page, the illustrations, the covers, all of it comes from human heads, hearts, and hands.
Fun
If we aren’t having fun, what are we even doing. Writing and creative pursuits are born from passion. And passion should be fun. Even in the darkest of stories there is a satisfaction in the story arc, in engaging with the characters, in exploring the world through new eyes.
Respect
Silvertomorrow Books respects all storytellers and readers. We honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis. and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Stoney Nakoda Nations: Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney and Tsuut’ina Nation.
They are the original storytellers of this land, whose stories deserve to be heard, read, and honoured. For recommendations on great indigenous authors we suggest Owl’s Nest Books as an excellent source. And for more on Reconcilliation and being an allly see the Treaty 7 Indigenous Ally Toolkit.
Growth
Every story is a chance to grow, to learn, to reshape the craft, to dive into new worlds—real or imaginary.
Some days are hard, some words are a battle to get on the page, and yet we persist, and we get better, and we grow—always.
